Not so much something I didn't already know, but rather, a giant arrow pointing to something I should be taking more seriously, about being ready to sieze opportunities. Being an artist, and especially a freelance one outside of the safe confines of a salaried job, requires continuous drive. Drive to create, but also drive to project yourself. To know yourself, and to make sure others know you. Creative work without opportunity will starve. Opportunity without substance to fill it will evaporate. Opportunities can be created through creative work or sometimes they are luckily stumbled upon. But one has to be ready to seize that opportunity. So the key to success is to be able to balance one's energy between developing yourself and your art, and projecting yourself and seeking opportunities. Such a difficult balance! But there is nothing worse than the few twinging moments I've had lately right after realizing that I just missed a potential opportunity, for being unavailable, not having the right composition someone is looking for, or just plain being out of time to take advantage of an opportunity. So, from here on, I am pushing to create, compose, and hone my skills, collect project ideas and be many steps ahead of my current opportunities, all the while trying to make it clear what I am all about. From here on, I will be ready. ]]><![CDATA[Greetings]]>Thu, 22 Dec 2011 00:18:16 GMThttp://aurapon.ca/blog/first-postThanks for visiting this space.
